Saint-Gobain makes investments in technology for low-carbon cement.

Saint-Gobain is stepping up its efforts to provide low-carbon additives and cement. The company has invested in Fortera, a start-up creating a method for making low-carbon cement. By reducing CO2 emissions by 70% in already-operating cement plants, Fortera's ReCarb process makes a substantial contribution to the objective of producing cement with zero carbon emissions, particularly when paired with renewable energy sources. Furthermore, as a shareholder, Saint-Gobain backs Ecocem, a pioneer in low-carbon cement technologies in Europe. When comparing Ecocem's ACT technology to the typical CEM II cement used in Europe, the carbon footprint is reduced by 70%.
